Start with one complete inventory

Gather products from your bathroom, bags, drawers, travel kits, and recent orders. Keeping everything visible for one pass prevents duplicates from hiding in separate places.

Group products into face, eyes, lips, brows, tools, and unopened backups.
Remove anything empty, dried out, visibly changed, or no longer safe to use.
Record the brand, product, shade, and approximate opening date for everything you are keeping.

Organize around use, not packaging

A beautiful display can still be inconvenient. Keep daily products easiest to reach, occasional products together, and backups separate from open products.

Daily rotation: products you reach for most weeks.
Occasion or seasonal: bold colors, special finishes, and event makeup.
Testing: new products you are actively evaluating.
Backups: unopened replacements kept away from heat and sunlight.

Record shades and outcomes

Foundation names and shade numbers are surprisingly easy to forget. Save the exact shade, undertone, finish, and season when it matches you best. For products you stop using, add a short reason such as too warm, irritating, creased, or difficult to blend.

Mark reliable favorites as your go-to products.
Note products currently in rotation.
Bench products you want to revisit later.
Record never-again products so you do not accidentally repurchase them.

Maintain it in five minutes

Once a month, return misplaced products, update empties and repurchases, and choose one or two benched products to test. The goal is not constant decluttering; it is keeping your collection accurate enough to support everyday decisions.
